Kenneth Burr, a PNW native, divides his time between Edmonds, Washington, and a cabin in the San Juan Islands.
His career has spanned five major transitions- from real estate management, to sole proprietor of a retail nursery, to professional ministry, to therapist, and now to authorship. For the past 25 years he has worked in private practice specializing in mental and relational healing, and advocating for congruence in faith and sexuality. Bringing a wealth of knowledge from his diverse professional backgrounds, he has also served as president for two mental health organizations, demonstrating his commitment to the field.
Earning a BS in Biology, a MA in Theology and a Post Master’s Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy, Ken bridges science, faith, and psychology in his approach to life. He is also the author of Coming Out, Coming Home, Making Room for Gay Spirituality in Therapy (Routledge 2009) reflecting his passion for inclusivity and personal growth.
A devoted husband and father of three grown children, the grandfather of four people who call him, Papa, and a dog who loves a good road trip. He finds joy in landscaping, art, boating, music, and travel. A gifted public speaker, he has provided seminars on the need for greater inclusivity in therapy and faith communities, and an occasional guest preacher in a local church. A social extrovert with a great sense of humor, he thrives in connecting with others and embracing life’s many adventures.
